Villa Olio

Villa Olio is a ground-up custom home set on a working olive farm outside Podgorica, Montenegro. Matter designed the house in the language of the region's stone architecture, sited to hold the Albanian mountains in the distance.

The clients — a local family — asked for two things above all: a home that frames its olive trees, and clean, gallery-like rooms to live among them. We shaped the plan around those views, letting the landscape set the rhythm of the interiors.

Built in local stone and calm, durable materials, Villa Olio is a contemporary Mediterranean residence rooted in its place. The home is currently in construction.
