Mount Holyoke

Mount Holyoke is a ground-up Spanish Modern home in Pacific Palisades, rebuilt for three generations of one family on a hillside site organized around a central datum to the view beyond.

We paired traditional massing with modern lines and materiality to create something specific to our clients' aesthetic — rooted in the Palisades, yet unmistakably contemporary. Staying within the 110% rebuild allowance, we studied the existing records closely and used the code to our advantage, adding an additional 1,200 square feet without exceeding what the site allowed.

The result is a custom multigenerational home built to hold a family's life for decades — designed, detailed, and documented by Matter from the first sketch through construction.
