Montana Eyes

Montana Eyes is a neighborhood eyewear shop and optometry practice, a fixture on Santa Monica's Montana Avenue for years. Matter designed its move into a larger storefront — a retail interior built to feel timeless rather than of-the-moment.

The brief was a fresh perspective that would still feel right a decade on. We organized the space around how the shop actually works — browsing, fittings, and eye exams brought into one calm, cohesive environment — and detailed it with the warmth of a place meant to last.

The result is a commercial retail interior that gives a longtime local business room to grow, without losing the ease and character its clients have always known.
