The Discovery Session
Every project begins with Discovery — a deliberate first act that translates how you live, or how your business works, into a written Concept Brief, before a single line is drawn. It is the most important hour of the whole project, and the one most studios skip.
Most design goes wrong at the start, not the end — when drawing begins before anyone has agreed what the project is actually for. Discovery is our answer to that. It's a structured conversation about how you want to live or work, what the site or space is asking for, what the budget can carry, and what "done well" means to you. We listen more than we present, and we write it all down.
What you walk away with is a Concept Brief: a short, plain-language document that captures the program, the priorities, the constraints, and the intent of the project in one place. It becomes the reference every later decision is measured against — a way to keep design honest, to align everyone before money is committed, and to catch the expensive misunderstandings while they're still free to fix.
From there the work moves into Design — plans, materials, and daylight shaped around the brief, drawn, tested, and refined until every decision earns its place — and then Execution, where we see it through construction, detailing, and oversight until the space is real and resolved. One studio, one point of view, the whole way through. Discovery is simply where it starts, and why the rest holds together.
